Career Colleges with Engineering Programs
    Career Colleges

Career colleges with engineering programs might not be your first thought when searching for engineering programs in the US. But career colleges have been around for a long time, providing skills- and career-based post-secondary education since the mid-19th century, and they now offer more programs than you might imagine! Since these are usually private institutions, career colleges are flexible and can easily change their curricula to meet the needs of today's industries. Programs are often developed with--and taught by--industry professionals, so the programs are relevant and geared toward getting you into a great job fast! With small classes, industry connections and hands-on experiential learning, career colleges can give you the kind of training that many larger institutions just can't provide.

Some career colleges (also called vocational or technical schools) have specific departments devoted to engineering technology programs, and possible program options include 2-year associate's degrees (such as the Associate in Applied Science, Associate in Technical Studies and Associate of Occupational Studies) as well as 1- to 3-year diplomas and certificates. Many of these programs lead to certifications as a "technologist" or "technician," and so career colleges can be a great way to get started on your engineering career. Alternately, career college credits may qualify as "pre-engineering" and can be transferable towards a community college or university program. So whether you've got your eye on the job market or on a university program a little farther down the road, career colleges can help you get there. So start your career college engineering search here!
