Historically Black Colleges and Universities with Engineering Programs
        Historically Black Colleges and Universities

Building a strong society takes a lot of work and committed effort. In the United States, the struggle to build a nation on the values of independence, respect and freedom led to the development of colleges, after the Civil War, with the specific mission to provide educational opportunities for blacks. These schools are now known as historically black colleges and universities (HBCUs), and they are still an important part of our postsecondary education system.

There are over 100 historically black colleges and universities in the United States today, including public and private, four- and two-year institutions. Admission to these colleges is open to all, but many HBCUs continue to emphasize programs focused on the needs of traditionally underrepresented students. Committed strongly to the social importance of education and of programs that will contribute positively to society, HBCUs therefore offer undergraduate programs in engineering with a variety of specialization options. So whether it's aerospace or architectural, environmental or electrical, the engineering programs at HBCUs will give you a solid education for a solid future.
